As an inveterate tomboy I was prepared to have my gag reflex on overdrive when visiting a shop named Teddy Bears & Teacups, but instead I was utterly awed by the thoughtful, beautiful and thorough displays of vintage dolls plus up-to-the-minute popular gift items, all showcased in a sparkling fairy tale cottage setting. As for the tea service, not only did I enjoy it but have been back again and again as the food is very tasty, light and fresh and presented with a sense of grace while at the same time a touch of whimsy. The bottom line is I am very impressed with this place .... even its website has a couple of the same decorative elements as the SoCal SocieTea's - so that just shows they have good taste -- hee hee

The owner and pastry chef works her magic ensuring an authentic and memorable experience from your very first sip of tea. After selecting from our list of dozens of varieties of teas, you will be treated to our freshly baked, homemade scones, Devonshire cream and preserves. Delicious tea sandwiches, berries and dessert are presented tableside in the enchanted tea room. Afternoon Tea is an absolute “must do” for all who visit Balboa Island- children are welcome, but not required! Adults and children alike will love their fanciful plates filled with delicacies.
